Strategies for Managing Anxiety

Anxiety disorders are common and the most prevalent psychological condition in both adults and children. In fact, one out every five people at some point in their lifetime will experience significant anxiety symptoms. Symptoms left unaddressed can have negative effects in areas of sleep, self confidence, relationships, ability to learn, etc.
Whether you are struggling with ongoing anxiety or more subtle symptoms, learning how anxiety “works” and practical strategies can be very helpful to reduce its effects.

- Proactive and Reactive Responses with Anxiety

Nutrition for Lifelong Health

Research has linked conditions such as obesity, cardiovascular disease, kidney stones, osteoporosis, type 2 diabetes, and colon cancer to diet. What may not be so obvious, is that a poor diet can also be a contributing factor to such day to day problems as fatigue, headaches, mood swings, indigestion, constipation, skin problems, and menstrual discomfort.
Come learn the basics of how to make food your medicine. We’ll cover the good, the bad and the “don’t touch” foods. Get ready to make healthy changes and explore new foods. We will also learn menu planning and recipes will be provided.

Foundational Health and Ideal Weight Class

There will be 6 hours of class time, educational materials, personalized assessments and recommendations, and a group social gathering at the end. The fee for the class is $145.
- The class will help you learn how to add healthy habits to your life while addressing major health problems such as, elevated cholesterol, elevated blood pressure, ideal weight, and type II diabetes and insulin resistance.
- There will be three, 2 hour sessions running over 5 weeks and a social hour at the end of 12 weeks to check in and share your stories.

- Discussion of the Mediterranean menu plan
- Find your baseline body composition
- Measure your health status
- Start your healthy foundation plan
- Discuss your fitness level, target heart rate, and plan your exercise goal.

- Learn new recipes which utilize the healthy food groups.
- Track improvements
- Discuss stress management techniques to use daily
- Customize the plan to fit both your blood type and Ayurvedic dosha type.

You will learn how to attain a healthy body composition -this means more lean muscle mass and less fat. This eating plan is different. Most diets focus on NOT eating. This plan will teach you what to eat and to eat more frequently.
Classes will be held on Monday evenings from 6:00-8:00 pm May 11th, 25th, and June 8th.
The potluck social will be on July 27th from 6-7 pm.

Healthy Cooking – Making Food your Medicine

Do you like the idea of healthy cooking but don’t know where to start? This class is designed to pave the way to a healthier kitchen and show you some easy ways to make food your medicine.
There will be 3 classes; each class will include a healthy meal and nutrition information about the meal. The fee for the class is $145. (Fee includes the food and recipes.)
- 1st Class
- Start your day out with a healthy breakfast. Learn some great recipes and meals for a great start to the day. And yes, we’ll be eating breakfast for dinner.
- 2nd Class
- Middle meals are often ignored. Lunch can be quick and healthy. Learn some tricks to eat on the go, packable lunches that will make you energized for the 2nd half of the day.
- 3rd Class
- Dinner is a time to wind down, relax evening and reconnect with your family after a busy day. Learn tips to make it healthy and delicious with time left over to enjoy your evening.
Classes will be held Monday evenings from 5:30-7:00 May 18th, June 1st and June 15th.
